In the latest development of tourism in Kerala and is known as a 'moving palace' because of its royal getup and modern facilities. Huge country boats that transported sixty or more tons of materials have been rearranged as House boats with luxurious facilties and even with air conditioners.  Conference halls and cozy rooms are arranged for comfortable stay for days together over water.

Engines drive these houseboats.  One can read watch TV, communicate to dear ones over mobile phones, catch fish, or even cook delicious foods and enjoy life in these royal boats without any disturbance from outside world.  Nuclear or joint families could enjoy boating in the same house boat. Rates are vary from Rs. 5000/- to Rs.20000/- a day.  The maximum speed is 20 Km per hour.  It gives you an unparallel life experience! 'Cruise 'n Lake' has a mini houseboat fitted with outboard engine and is rented out at Rs. 500/- per hour

Motor Boat

Motor Boat and Speedboats are available for speedy travel over water. Motorboats will carry 30 0r more people inside and 15 or more deck.  when motorboats have a maximum speed of 40 Km/hr, the speed launches will fly over water with a speed of 100 Kms or more with a maximum of 4 passengers.  Speed boat journey over the water is an exhilarating experience.  Its rent is calculated per hour and ranges above Rs.900/- per hr. Motor Boats can be hired per hour or per day. The average rent per hour is Rs. 300/- or Rs. 2500/- per day.

Boats will pick the tourist from or drop them at Ernakulam, Thanneermukkom, Vechoor, Pathiramanal, Kumarakom, Kottayam, Alaeppy, R-Block, Kollam etc. The serene enjoyable boat trip takes one to Kumarakom Bird Sactuary and Pathiramanal Birds Sanctury two of the well preserved natural habitats of migrating birds that attract Ornithologists from all over the world for bird watching.  It is a haven for a variety of migrating birds

Country Boats

Country boats are available in plenty and it is the normal transport of any family.  Tourists are interested in rowing them.  They can fish using nets or hooks while in the country boats.  It is the cheapest mode of transport in the lake and in rivers

Water Sports

Kumarakom is boon for water sports. People enjoy holidays and tours here by sight seeing in house boats or motor boats, swimming, rowing in country rafts, fishing with hooks or nets, water sports etc.  Once cannot afford to miss them means of relaxation that would be remembered through our life.

Tourists reaching in Cruise 'n Lake are very well taken care of and attended to.  It is on the bank of Lake Vembanad where the river Pennarthodu meets the lake.  This tourist sport is approved by the Government of Kerala as a Home Stay Unit and Homely facilities are provided. Air conditioned and no-AC bath attached double bed rooms are available. Banana Plants in the western style toilet room is an attraction here.  Warm water is available always since geysers are provided in each room.  Rest and relaxation in cozy couches and in rocking cradles smoothened Ned by the lake breeze is relishable.  Night stay could be arranged in the lake or in the river on Houseboat or motorboat.

Food

Meals are provided in Puthenpura restaurant according to each one's taste and appetite.  Fresh lake fishes like Pearl sport fish or Karimeen, prawn, crab, lobster, scampi, duck, chicken, rabbit, kaada, and the like are selected fresh and prepared as per request. Chinese, continental, South Indian and North Indian meals are served.  Cooked in pure coconut or sunflower oil, with proper ingredients and spices, Kerala fish curry is quite tasty.  Ducks and other water birds are deliciously prepared and served on the table.  Curries cooked in special traditional Kerala style whose taste lasts for hours, are especially on demand.  Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes are quite enjoyable.  One can catch fish using net or hook and cook by oneself, if needed.  Besides snacks and beverages, tender coconuts are used as a natural drink.  Fresh coconut toddy is tapped here and made it available for tasting.
